sustainability FAQ
How do you decide what fabrics you use and are these sustainable?
At the moment we work with two types of fabric. The linen for pants and bags, the recycled nylon for leggings and tops. No fabric is truly sustainable, but we want to use the most sustainable options and explain to you why we decided to use these.
Linen is durable and a more sustainable fabric than other fabrics. It is one of the most biodegradable fabrics, uses a lot less water to produce than f.e. Cotton and can withstand higher temperatures. Our linen is OEKO-tex certified to make sure there are no harmful chemicals used to make or dye this fabric.
Unfortunately for yoga leggings to be comfortable, we need to add elastane to a fabric to make it more stretchy. We also want the fabric to stay in a good condition for a very long time, therefore we did not want to use cotton or other natural materials which wear out sooner or can get damaged. Therefore we choose to go for recycled nylon (mixed with elastane). We tested this fabric thoroughly and it stays in a great condition after wearing the garment many times.
Where are the items produced?
We produce our linen items in the Netherlands, in a small atelier in Amsterdam. You can custom f.e. the length of the inseam of the pants, but it takes a little longer to produce since these items are made to order.
The legging and the top are produced in a small factory in Portugal, Reistex. It is a family owned business and they do a lot in house. They make the samples there, they cut the fabric, sew it into garments, iron and pack it at the factory.
How responsible are you in shipping and packaging?
All our items produced in Portugal are shipped with the truck to The Netherlands. One of the reasons why we produce in Europe is so we don’t have to use air or sea transport. The items come in a recycled poly bag so it will not get dirty on the way to our warehouse or your home.
We ship the items to you in a small box made from recycled paper. You can also choose to pick up your item in Amsterdam to save some costs and CO2 here as well.
